KEEP THE EARTH BELOW MY FEET
Though it may not be a worship song directly, nor written by someone in the faith, Marcus Mumford certainly had a right idea of what it means to truly live. Not just living as any life ought to be, but this is how we as believers must view this short life on earth as how to live for Christ.
The song: "BELOW MY FEET"
They key chorus lyrics written by Marcus Mumford:
Keep the earth below my feet
For all my sweat, my blood runs weak
Let me learn from where I have been
Oh keep my eyes to serve, my hands to learn
Oh keep my eyes to serve, my hands to learn
For all my sweat, my blood runs weak
Let me learn from where I have been
Oh keep my eyes to serve, my hands to learn
Oh keep my eyes to serve, my hands to learn
This is a beautiful translation of a couple verses such as 1 John 2:15
"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him."
Or even Romans 12:2
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
So every time I listen and hear this beautiful song, I am reminded that we are ambassadors here on this earth, and often too many times we are distracted in life where we let ourselves get influenced by what the world has to offer. I am more than guilty of this time and time again especially with worldly loves and lust. So what a great unknowingly at first, applicable song it is that Marcus Mumford wrote.
